“My plan is to do an off road 7-8 day trail Allan on a recent training hikerun/ fast hike from Glasgow to Aultbea, Wester Ross on the coast of the North West Highlands of Scotland. The total distance is approx. 325km. It will follow the West Highland Way, Great Glen Way, Cape Wrath Trail as well as trackless bogs, moors and hillsides.
Accommodation along the way will be a mixture of wild camping (bivouac), staying in bothies (basic remote shelter), maybe youth hostel and even a Bed and breakfast. The idea is to travel as light and fast as possible. If interested I plan to post more about this challenge on my blog at allangrant.org
As with most of my previous endurance runs I want to fund raise for Starfish Asia. and in particular for new solar panels. For most of the Starfish schools a lack of power is an increasing problem, and we would like to see more solar panels being installed to provide stable electricity, especially for lighting and fans during the summer. A solar panel for an average school would cost £2,000. It would be great to raise enough at least for 1 school, but if 2 (£4,000) that would be fantastic You can help by donating here.
