As the temperature in Pakistan rises many organisations and people flock to the hills of the north for the relative cool and a chance to be inspired whist recharging the batteries. Starfish Pakistan is no exception. With schools on a break it is the ideal opportunity to gather groups of teachers for some targeted training, helping those we support to gain confidence and skills that will enable more young people to achieve to their full potential.

For this year’s summer training the focus is on improving English skills. We are delighted to have an experienced teacher trainer from Singapore, Guat Hua KOH, who is generously giving the whole of July to the task. With a mixture of upfront instruction and small group work she will help develop their understanding of English as well as their speaking skills and practical classroom techniques. Please join us in praying for the important month that lies ahead.

As well as the yearly training, extra training took place in Multan in May. This was localised to encourage teachers who were unable to travel north due to family commitments etc. 28 teachers from southern Punjab joined together to receive training in using the bible curriculum, lesson planning, time tabling and classroom management plus Multiple Intelligence. Feedback from the training has been positive.

“It is very encouraging to see all the teachers are very motivated and eager to learn” – Guat
