How Edkasa are helping Starfish students when schools are closed

Starfish has always strived to help schools deliver the best possible education at an affordable cost for children living in the deprived Christian communities of Pakistan.

Last year we teamed up with Edkasa to provide 11 Starfish supported schools with high quality science and maths teaching through live on-line lessons direct to the classroom delivered by a progressive education company called Edkasa, based in Lahore.

With COVID-19 pandemic gripping the world, the schools have all been shut, so the usual high quality teaching has not been possible – but that has not stopped Starfish and Edkasa from providing these students with the education they deserve. Watch Annum Sadiq, the Chief Education Officer of Edkasa, explain how they have been supporting students through the COVID-19 pandemic in Pakistan.

When asked about the contribution of Edkasa, Anser Javed, National Director of Starfish Pakistan said:

“Edkasa online teaching classes for children to study science and maths subjects has been such a wonderful experience for both children and Starfish. We had always found it difficult to find good science teachers in poor communities, but through Edkasa we have qualified and trained teachers teaching and supporting our students. Edkasa’s efforts and concern for the children’s educational loss during COVID-19 has been excellent.”
