Whilst in Pakistan last week, Anser, Mike and Duncan took part in a Demolition and Ground-Breaking Ceremony for a replacement building at the Holy Shepherd Grammar School for which we busy raising funds.
The current building is in a very poor condition, and has developed large cracks in the masonry due to very poor foundations. The school is built in an earthquake zone, and has been assessed as uneconomic to repair.
So far, we have raised £72,000 and still require £35,000 to complete the ground floor of the new building. If funds allow, then we will look to build a first floor on top so that additional classes and more students can be taught.
It goes without saying that before the current building is demolished, alternative arrangements need to be put in place for the 650 children who attend the school.
They will be using the adjacent Vocational Training Centre (VTC) and some temporary classrooms will be placed on the roof of the VTC. Following which demolition can start. These enabling works will start next month.
If all goes to plan, then construction on the new building will start in February 2020
